Douglas Santos has been teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the last past 13 years, passing his extensive experience and knowledge on to his students.

He first put on a gi(uniform) and started to train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the age of 15 and has been heavily involved in the art ever since. Douglas earned his black belt from Ataque Duplo – Brazilian Top Team – Florianopolis (South Brazil).

After arriving in Auckland, New Zealand in 2001 he decided to start a proper Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school here. Years later Douglas Jiu Jitsu Academy holds 11 x National team titles, 1 x Auckland team title and many others in MMA and submission competitions.

Douglas was also the only black belt invited to represent New Zealand at the 2009 World Jiu Jitsu Pro Cup in Abu Dhabi.

Classes are for beginners,intermediate and advanced students. Private lessons are also available on request.

Today Douglas Santos has one of the strongest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teams in New Zealand.

Recently Douglas Santos became the President of The New Zealand BJJ Organization, he also is the Director for the Abu Dhabi Pro in New Zealand and holds the rights for the World Cup trials. The Abu Dhabi Pro is the biggest professional Jiu Jitsu  association in the world. Douglas also competes in international competitions at a world class level and will be leading the NZ BJJ TEAM  to the World Cup 2011 in ABu Dhabi.

Douglas has even been working with the rugby team the BLUES with conditioning training and ground work.
